The Lot - Point Loma
Location: San Diego, California
Project Type: Entertainment, Restaurant, Historical
Project Size: 2,231 SF
The Lot is a 22,000 SF historical remodel of a former 1940s US Naval theater located at Liberty Station in Point Loma, San Diego, California. The previous entertainment venue for Navy recruits, was transformed into a vibrant social destination with a full-service bar and fine dining adjacent to a six-auditoriums luxury cinema for locals in Point Loma. While maintaining the historical characteristics of the building, the interior improvements consisted of all new mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems for the full-service kitchen, bar, auditoriums, restaurant, and patio area.
To preserve the historical and cultural significance of the project, the existing exterior was restored and repaired to its original appearance. The theater’s original stage wood flooring which once hosted performers such as Bob Hope, Jack Benny, and Nat King Cole, was preserved and relocated to the new entry lobby. This unique project carefully balanced the impacts of new construction with the preservation of the existing architectural and cultural artifacts.
