CEO | PRINCIPAL
Stephanie Gilbert serves as Chief Executive Officer of SMS Architects, directing the firm’s strategic vision, financial stewardship, and market growth. She leads corporate strategy, oversees firm operations, and manages capital and ownership interests, ensuring disciplined performance alongside creative excellence.
Raised in her family’s architecture and construction business, Stephanie developed an early understanding of how design and business intersect. She further strengthened that foundation through her professional experience at MBH Architects before playing a pivotal role in building SMS Architects into a dynamic, growth-oriented firm and helping shape its long-term direction.

Brandon Dedmon

CHIEF EXECUTIVE ARCHITECT | PRINCIPAL
Brandon Dedmon brings extensive architectural experience across a wide range of project types, with a strong record of leading complex projects from concept through completion. As Chief Executive Architect and Principal, he provides senior leadership over project delivery, technical execution, and team performance across the firm.
Having led successful work at both MBH Architects and SMS Architects, Brandon plays a central role in guiding project teams, mentoring project managers, and ensuring design intent is carried through with precision and accountability. His leadership is grounded in practical expertise, clear communication, and a commitment to delivering projects that consistently exceed client expectations.

DESIGN | PRINCIPAL
Nicolas Biddle leads the creative vision of SMS Architects, shaping design solutions that are thoughtful, place-driven, and responsive to the goals of each client and community. As Design Principal and Managing Director, he is responsible for developing and presenting design concepts that elevate the built environment across a variety of project types and scales.
His experience spans large-scale residential, retail, mixed-use, and international work. Prior to joining SMS Architects, Nicolas contributed to award-winning design practices, including Elkus Manfredi Architects and Jean-Paul Viguier Architects in Paris. He is passionate about placemaking and creating meaningful architectural experiences that balance design excellence, context, and long-term value.

Hessam Vakili is a design advocate with over two decades of experience, dedicated to excellence and community enrichment through innovative design solutions. With a diverse background spanning mixed-use developments, educational campuses, residential housing, and large-scale urban projects, he brings a holistic approach to every endeavor.
Having worked with renowned firms like Gensler and Elkus Manfredi, Hessam is recognized for his leadership and commitment to delivering impactful results. Beyond his professional achievements, he is passionate about mentoring emerging designers and contributing to philanthropic causes, embodying a dedication to shaping a better future through design innovation and community engagement.
